Anne Magill joins Vettriano in donating to charity auctionAnne Magill is to collaborate with Jack Vettriano in a fund raising effort on behalf of the Terrence Higgins Trust and will be donating a painting for the forthcoming
Lighthouse Gala Auction in aid of the Terrence Higgins Trust, which is to be held at
Christie's on 22nd March 2010.
Entitled,
Still, the painting is one of a series of studies of peformers preparing to go on stage which will feature in Magill's forthcoming exhibition, which is to open at a major new gallery space in London later this year and details of which will be announced via this website nearer the time.
Vettriano's publishing company,
Heartbreak Publishing, is to publish a range of limited edition prints, posters and cards featuring Anne Magill's haunting images.
Anne Magill is one of the art world’s best-kept secrets, with work held in corporate and Private
Collections worldwide, including those of an astonishing list of Hollywood stars.
Magill’s figures reside in the twentieth century but have a timeless quality where the edges that
define generations or period are blurred. The evocative nature of her paintings is perhaps best
described by the author, Josephine Hart:
"The great power of Anne’s work is her Hopper-like genius
to compel us to weave a story, conjured from our own repertoire about these scenes. Though we do
not know the men or women we feel we recognize them, as they stand gazing at an event we
cannot see or walking, face hidden under a hat, towards a destination of which we are unaware".
